Windsports

Trade winds and unique geography (the continent’s “corner”) make Gostoso one of the world’s spots with the most windy days. Only April–June rains slightly reduce the average.

Wide, shallow, crystal-clear waters: at low tide you can walk dozens of metres waist-deep — perfect for beach starts, waterstarts and manoeuvres.

Prevailing E–SE side shore winds on the right-hand beach, 18–25 knots. Typical sail sizes 4.7–5.3; kites 7–11.

Oct–Feb: north swells ideal for wave-riding.

Jul–Aug: more southerly, offshore and gusty; best to sail upwind towards the point (Monte Alegre). Alternatives further south: Perobas (40 min), Lagoa Grande (45 min), Maracajaú (50 min), Genipabu (1 h).

Recommended: Dr. Wind school & storage next to the inn — Wingfoil, Kitesurf, Windsurf; excellent structure and DUOTONE gear.

Services: equipment rental, lessons and storage.
